Anthropologie The Gathering Tank, Skirt, and Necklace, Forever 21 Belt, All Black Mary Janes

I always welcome the onset of autumn; it’s a chance to abandon those flimsy, boring sundresses and start to dig into substantial fabrics, richer colors and a myriad of layering opportunities. It’s still comparatively warm out, so no real layering for me, but I did break out a vintagey/schoolgirl full pleated a-line skirt and a more fall-appropriate color palette of tan, black and some deep saturated oranges, blues, greens and purples. Also broken out this day: my favorite ultimate lazy-person hairstyle as I had about six minutes to get ready in the morning:

When I’m too lazy even to make two braids, a single, messy, 30-second plait quickly pinned in a loop behind my head will do — for some reason, people always think this takes real time and effort and I get more compliments on it than any other hair style. What they don’t know can’t hurt them I guess :)

I love your hair- it does look like you spent a lot of time on it! I’m growing my hair out and I can’t wait until it’s long enough to braid.
Comment by Tammy October 12, 2011 @ 9:24 ami love that skirt! and the green is such a great color on you
and your hair is adorable!
Comment by rosa October 12, 2011 @ 9:41 amI have that skirt! No idea what it’s called, though. Problem is that I find it ends up way too low on my hips now, grr.
Comment by British Anthropologiest October 12, 2011 @ 4:26 pmAnd yes, messy updos always seem to garner more praise than the one we labour over. We should probably take a hint, huh?
I have it too- saw it on you in google reader this morning and got all excited that I might finally learn what it was called ;) Looking lovely as usual! (and I have the same sort of reaction usually when I let me hair dry naturally instead of blowing it out and using an iron on it- I get more compliments then even though it’s less effort and less of a look…. lol)
Comment by Jamie October 13, 2011 @ 4:05 amAhh, I feel like I used to know what this was called but its slipped my memory! Its the same print as Anthro’s Campo di Fiori Dress but it had a different name. Sorry I couldn’t help either of you out!
Comment by goldenmeans October 13, 2011 @ 10:50 amsure, just make me a little bit more jealous of your thick lustrous locks! I definitely have nostalgia for long hair, but mine never was thick enough to make more than a ridiculously thin braid!
I love the combination of colours- I’d swear this cute skirt was Kate Spade or something…
