This Brushed Lace Pullover is a bit of a departure for me in many ways — a pullover instead of one of my usual cardigans, a pale blush hue instead of a bright, and perhaps most unusually, something I actually bought at full price at Anthropologie instead of patiently waiting on a sale. But something seemed so sweet and feminine and easy to wear about the peachy net and flocked flowers of this sweater that I just couldn’t wait, and fortunately it wasn’t too hard on the wallet even at full retail. Technically it’s supposed to be a loungewear piece, but I think it will be lovely to wear with gauzy romantic skirts this fall, or even just like this with jeans and a camisole when I feel like being a little more casual. I highly recommend taking the plunge on this one if you’re thinking about it.
Oh, and just to assure you that my tastes haven’t done a total 180, this is the latest Anthro item that’s got me all hot and bothered:
.
Anthropologie Frilled Echelons Peacoat - $148
Love that sculpted neckline, the long sleeves, the double-breasted buttons, the boatload of ruffles, and most importantly, that gorgeous jewel-toned blue. Humina humina.

Aww, that lace pullover looks so sweet on you! Agreed about the peacoat. O-M-to-the-G. I haven’t lusted after something at Anthro like this for a while!
Comment by Gina August 18, 2011 @ 11:22 am:) Yes, this is the first jaw-dropping thing I’ve seen for a little bit. I’ve been day-dreaming of this since I saw Roxy’s post on the blogger event (and the amaaaaazing coat she was wearing there as well. Drool). I admit I am slightly dubious as to how flattering this would be on me (what with my wide hips) and the material (reminiscent of last year’s Alice in Autumn and Intelligencer Sweatercoats, which were sadly not as delightful in person as they looked online). Crossing my fingers though!
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:38 pmI love this pullover on you! It’s just stunning…effortless, yet romantic, casual, yet so put together! I can’t wait to see what else you do with it! :)

Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:49 pmAbsolutely love that brushed lace pullover! I have been waiting to see a blogger wear it and now that I see how great it looks on you, I feel like I need it! I think it would be a perfect fall piece.
Comment by Valerie August 18, 2011 @ 1:40 pmWhy thanks Valerie, so glad I could help =) I think this is definitely a great buy for fall, especially as it is somewhat reasonably priced.
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:49 pmHow beautiful is that top !!! … and I don’t how I didn’t realize this before but you look a lot like an Indian actress – Vidya Balan. I find her gorgeous just like you! :)

Comment by Tanvi (@Tanvii) August 18, 2011 @ 2:27 pmThank you Tanvi! I’m not quite sure I’m quite as glamorous as Vidya, but I’m very flattered by the comparison :)
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:51 pmI’ve been eyeing this since you put it on your fall wishlist. I tried it on last weekend and am on love…just waiting for the weather to get a bit cooler. It looks great on you, such a beautiful piece.
Comment by JenniferK August 18, 2011 @ 2:28 pmYay for more Brushed Lace love :) Haha, I probably wouldn’t be wearing it in the dead of summer either, but my office’s air-conditioning is a bit crazy, so I can get away with it…
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:54 pmGORGEOUS! I’m totally in love with it!
Comment by Jenni August 18, 2011 @ 3:09 pm:) Thanks Jenni! Definitely worthy of love.
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 5:58 pmI love your lace pullover – it’s gorgeous and pretty. It pretties up denim :-)
Comment by vintageglammz August 18, 2011 @ 4:03 pmI saw that new anthro jacket online last night, I just knew it was only a matter of time before someone in the blogging community mentioned it! I’m loving it too, but I’d like to know how it fits and whether the ruffles would be flattering on someone with a short-ish torso like myself.
True, true — not totally sure that jacket will flatter me myself since I have wide hips and the cut and the ruffles might just over-emphasize that, but I’m enamored with the look of it nonetheless for now :) Hopefully it will somehow work out for both of us!
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 6:01 pmThe top is beautiful. Sometimes it’s good to step outside your usual comfort zone. That peacoat is gorgeous! I want :)
Comment by rachel (promises like pie crust) August 18, 2011 @ 4:14 pmYes, I’ve been dipping my toes outside my bright-color-zone with some peaches and blushes lately, mostly thanks to Tien’s influence! She looks so lovely in them all the time that it gave me the motivation and confidence to try them myself. And ahh, this peacoat is totally you! I associate you with this type of teal for some reason.
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 6:02 pmOh, I saw that lace pullover in my local store, and was horribly tempted. It was kind of awful how tempting it is. You look lovely in it.
Comment by Carol August 18, 2011 @ 5:35 pmI had to smile at your phrasing Carol :) You should try this on next time though and see if it works for you as well! As far as tempting things go, this isn’t quite as scary price-wise as some other Anthro items, or anything in Kate Spade’s catalog…
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 6:05 pmYou look so darling A, it’s a beautiful shade on you and I think worth not waiting for it to go on sale. I had noticed this before but talked myself out of it since I think I own too much lace. Now, I really want to try it on, just to see…..
Comment by Dea Diaries August 18, 2011 @ 5:48 pmThank you so much Dea! And yes, please do try it! I don’t think it will work for everyone because the color is a bit tricky and close to some skin tone’s, but it definitely merits at least trying it on :)
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 6:07 pmI love the delicate colour and pattern of the lace with jeans- what a perfect contrast of textures. gold and pale blush pink are such an amazing combination too!
This is definitely helping me think about fall dressing…
Comment by thatdamngreendress August 18, 2011 @ 6:28 pmWhy thank you Sarah! :)
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 11:44 pmAs much as I love bright colors, nudes and blush pinks are so appealing. And that particular shade is really flattering on you!
Comment by a stylized hysteria August 18, 2011 @ 7:41 pmAw, thank you so much Najeema :)
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 11:44 pmOh wow this top is so pretty. Definitely worth the full price purchase!
Who makes your shoes? I love them! They remind me of Chloes.
Comment by jesspgh August 18, 2011 @ 9:33 pmHey Jess! They are the Fossil Sasha Pump. They’re very comfy and fairly reasonably priced! And haha, I bought them specifically because of their Chloe resemblance! I always loved them, but it was impossible to find them in a EU 42. These are a pretty decent substitute for me.
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 11:35 pmhaha. I was just about to ask about ur shoes! Soo cute. I thought they were Chloes as well. I love Chloe esp their shoes and bags! *sigh*
Comment by Ath August 19, 2011 @ 11:35 pmYou mean “a total 180.” A total 360 would put you exactly in the same spot you’re already in since it’s a full circle :)))))))
Comment by Kelly August 18, 2011 @ 10:49 pmLOL, could you tell I typed this in a hurry? :) Total non-thinking mistake. Fixed!
Comment by goldenmeans August 18, 2011 @ 11:33 pmI love the pictures and the different focus of each frame. That is a very beautiful top. I’m usually a cardigan gal myself so I know what you mean when you say it’s different from your usual. I can’t wait to see how you’ll be styling it next!
Comment by Jenn August 19, 2011 @ 12:27 amCute! I love that it’s machine-washable lace. Wishlisted!
Comment by Y August 19, 2011 @ 7:11 amThis look is so soft and pretty! and I love your necklace- I want one with a T on it!
Comment by Tammy August 20, 2011 @ 6:34 pmYou look so lovely in this pullover! Can you comment on the sizing?? I’d like to buy it but unsure of what size I’d be. Your advice would help a lot… thanks so much!
Comment by strawberryheelsforever September 19, 2011 @ 8:17 pmOf course Carly :) I think the general sizing advice was to go down with this one, but I actually sized up from a small to a medium because I wanted a slightly looser, relaxed look.
Comment by goldenmeans September 19, 2011 @ 9:01 pmThanks Anjali… I’m hoping to pick it up the second it hits sale!
Comment by strawberryheelsforever September 19, 2011 @ 9:27 pm[...] a winner. Next is the Unconditional Osier Dress, which is a longer, dress version of my beloved Brushed Lace Pullover, in a pretty blue color. Then we have the Dulcie Dress; though I have concerns about it being too [...]
