Anthropologie Homegrown Dress, J.Crew Merino Ruffle Cardigan, Forever 21 Tights, kate spade kellie too heels, Forever 21 Headband, Rachel Leigh ‘Over It’ Necklace
The last few days I’ve been feeling decidedly glum and moody, and the formerly idyllic weather in California seems to have taken a turn for the worse to match my emotions. As I walked along my street the other afternoon, the sky was overcast and threatening rain, the wind whipped the tree branches about violently, and the air nipped harshly at my cheeks. Surrounded by gloom, I could feel my mood slipping even further. I wondered what the point was of even trying to take any pictures and considered just turning around to go back and mope in bed with a comforting book. But then, amidst all the gray, my eyes alighted on an unexpected sunny yellow patch a few yards down — an early-blooming cluster of daffodils, my favorite flowers. It seemed that Mother Nature was extending a tiny peace offering, a small gift designed to lift my spirits. I felt a smile come to my face for the first time that day. They didn’t make my problems magically disappear or erase my despondency entirely, but these cheerful little daffodils seemed like symbol of all the beauty, happiness and hope in the world, reminding me that things could and would indeed eventually get better. Today I am finally back to myself, but journey to recovery all started I think with these pretty, hopeful yellow blooms :)

I’ve been pretty bummed about the weather too. Time for a sun dance!

Comment by Lauren February 15, 2011 @ 5:19 pmHi Anjali. Glad you’re feeling better. Daffodils always remind me that spring time is near. And I wished I lived in Cali . . . where I live, there’s still a foot of snow on the ground. And don’t worry too much :) things always have a way of working themselves out.

I was scrolling down thinking how beautiful your outfit was and then got to the daffodils and they gave me the biggest smile. Hope you are feeling smilier toooo!

Comment by goldenmeans February 16, 2011 @ 8:14 pmI love daffodils! Once the shoots start to emerge from the earth my heart lifts knowing spring is around the corner; it’s my favourite time of year. The snowdrops and crocuses are in bloom here but the daffs have yet to flower. The beautiful blooms you found are the perfect match for your gorgeous dress, I hope they did the trick and lifted your mood! x
