I always get ridiculously excited when I recognize clothing items on TV, even more so when I actually own the item in question, and like last night, especially excited when I am wearing it at that very moment. Yesterday I was in my Anthropologie Solar Star Blouse and practically jumped up and down when I saw How I Met Your Mother’s Lily in the same piece at the beginning of the “Robots vs. Wrestlers” episode (5×22):

Ah, I loved this blouse for a long time and was so excited that I could finally buy it when it went on sale the other week. I was a little less in love with it actually wearing it, but hey, an appearance on TV is almost enough to make me forgive Anthro for the crappy stitching that made the top button fall of my blouse 10 minutes after putting it on!
Anyway, Lily didn’t stop with the Anthropologie there; in the next scene she returned in Anthropologie’s Lambent Amaryllis Blouse:

Okay so I don’t own that blouse. But I considered buying it, and that’s something, right? :)
It’s hardly unusual for a couple Anthro pieces to make it into an episode of HIMYM, but three in a row might be a record, even for this show. I actually don’t know the name of the next top, but I’m pretttty positive it’s from Anthro too; does anyone remember the name? Tien let me know that this is the Cloverleaf Scoopneck!

So yeah, the episode excited me sartorially, and it was also one of the first in many weeks/months that really made me laugh and felt like the “old” show this season. I like episodes like this where the gang just hangs out and is silly; it’s nice to see that they still have the same camaraderie. Oh, and how could anyone not appreciate an episode with Will Shortz, my hero, in it? Thank you again to the commenters who long ago recommended I watch this show for all the Anthropologie and DVF on it. I came for the clothes, and stuck around for the amazing laughs and heart :)

Husband looked at me like I had lost my mind so I didn’t say anything when I saw the Amaryllis Blouse! I’m such a dork but that really always gets me excited (like last week when Lily wore the Free Flow Tank! *squee!*)

And yes, I loved when I saw Lily wearing the Freeflow Tank in the “house” episode last month! She was also wearing it under my favorite shade of J.Crew Jackie Cardigan (Seashore Green), so I was doubly excited! :)

Lily had the Free Flow Tank on, an anthro dress, the Field Game cardigan in navy and even Robin was sporting an anthro t-shirt. There may have been even more, but that’s what I picked out. I felt kind of guilty when I realized how many of those pieces I actually owned.
Comment by Joy May 11, 2010 @ 1:26 pmThe episode before this was “Twin Beds,” and I actually think Lily spent most of it in her sweats and PJs :) I think you may be conflating some of the outfits (the Freeflow Tank I remember at least) that she was wearing from “Homewreckers.” But I did totally catch the Field Game cardi and Robin in her Bouquet of Stripes Tee in the episode! There was also a green tank that Robin was wearing (in the scene where Ted is cooking lady fingers, lol) that looked Crossroads Tee in a tank-version or something, but I’m not sure if that was Anthro or not, do you know?

(I got excited because the main character of Bones was wearing the Reed Shirtdress in green, which I also own, a few episodes back). How cool is that that the stylists are all shopping at Anthro? Seeing that my own clothes are TV-worthy gives me a sort of psychic fist-bump of approval in a way, like there is consensus that this stuff looks great.
OMG, Will Shortz! I have a nerd-crush on Will Shortz. A confession: I date an uber-geek who participates in the World Puzzle Championships pretty much every year, and so I get to hang out with Will Shortz (along with a hundred other geeks) a few days annually. He’s just as gregarious and more lively IRL than interviews seem to paint him.

I was dying over Bones’ Burberry coat an episode or two back, and last season I was *dying* over Camille’s amazing blue Nanette Lepore (they show it in the “zoo” episode I think, where she meets her ex-lover’s daughter? I remember not being able to concentrate on the emotional aspect of that scene cause I kept drooling over the NL :) )
Also, so envious that you get hang time with Mr. Shortz :)
