My Fairy Princess Shoes

These arrived in the mail yesterday.  Sigh, I love these sparkly, spangly peep-toes so much.  It’s kind of rare that rhinestone-covered things are not gaudy, but these are subtle enough to look mainly a pale silver most of the time — and when the light hits them they release an explosion of sparkles.   When and if I get married, they will totally be my wedding shoes.  They are the kind of heels I would expect Stuart Weitzman to sell for something like $500, so I kind of can’t believe they were a mere $80 instead.

Beautiful! Wow, I can’t believe they are only $80. Love the gold heel too. Great buy Anjali! I can’t wait to see what you pair them with. :-)

Comment by Athena

Oh yeah, the gold heel is also awesome, I forgot to mention that :) I don’t have anything planned yet, but I’m always lacking for appropriate metallic shoes when I go to fancy-pants parties and I think these will finally fit the bill.

Comment by goldenmeans

Those shoes are amazing! Do you have an outfit planned for them!? I hope so bc I bet it’s gorgeous!!!

Comment by Gingergirl

No outfit yet, I’m going to have to come up with something great to match their beauty though ;)

Comment by goldenmeans

So pretty! I’m almost scared to read your blog now. Everytime I look, there’s something I want to purchase! :)

Comment by A Loopy Life

Aw, lol, I’m sorry. Haha, I’ll post some ugly things next if that will help ;)

Comment by goldenmeans

haha, Anjali, trust me… you will want new EVERYTHING if you get married. lol…. love the pretty shoes! And I thought they were SW when I first saw them. Nice score. :)

Comment by Justine

Haha, I probably will huh, won’t I? Knowing my love for new shiny things especially. But until then, I’m just going to pretend these are my wedding dancin’ shoes :)

Comment by goldenmeans

I love them! I love them even more than the In a Twinkling Dress and I am five seconds away from buying them. Are they comfy? Are they like J. Crew shoes because that would be a deal breaker. I think I need these.

Comment by tien

Okay, so I just bought them. They look gorgeous on you; I hope they will look even half as good on me. So beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Anjali.

Comment by tien

Yay! You will look great in them I’m sure Tien :)
Sorry I didn’t respond in time, I’ve been out all day. These are pretty comfy, although I think I will need to soften the leather around the toes with some stretching spray and put a pad in to prevent my toes from sliding forward (happens to me with all peep toes, boo) before I actually wear them out. But they *are* generally comfortable and beat the J.Crew shoes by miles IMO.

Comment by goldenmeans

GORGEOUS!! I love them!! They are totally not gaudy and so so pretty- I want to wear them to my wedding- I am kind of tempted to buy ‘em right away!

Comment by Maria

LOL, you *should*. You would look so awesome in these! =)

Comment by goldenmeans

Haha I apparently didn’t read the part about you wanting these for your wedding shoes- we are thinking alike!

Comment by Maria

Anjali you have the best taste in shoes. I am so not happy I didn’t jump on ordering those camper heels you bought! Do these run true to size?

Comment by jen

Hi Jen :) I think the Merryanns are supposed to run pretty true to size (and this was true in my case as well), although I have heard some people say to say to size half a size down if you have a narrow foot.

Comment by goldenmeans

Anjali, these shoes are amazing. I need them in my life. They’re like a silver “Dorothy” shoe. Thank you for the comment you left me. It was so helpful/insightful. Anyway, I totally agree with you about these shoes – that they’re something I’d expect Stuart Weitzman to charge a zillion dollars for. :)

Comment by Celine

Oh my goodness – these shoes are to die for! Your photos put the stock image to shame.

Comment by Jessica

I can’t believe how cheap those were, they look much more expensive. They remind me ever so slightly of a pair of Louboutin’s I saw once. And they would be lovely wedding shoes indeed!

Comment by Natalie

Hi, I notice that the gold heel on your pictures is solid, however the heel on the shoe on the website to buy (nordstroms.com) it is a gold snakeskin print… do you know why? Just wondering because I ordered these two days ago and I’m wondering which I’m going to get… since yours have a solid gold heel. Let me know if you know ;) thanks!

Comment by Zoe

Hey Zoe :)
Ha, you know I never even looked at the heel on the website! So the heel on mine does have a pebbled finish to the leather like is shown on the website, but it’s not very obvious unless you are looking at it up close…from more than a foot away it just looks like solid gold to me; the grain is a little finer than shown on the site.

Comment by goldenmeans

Anjali~ are these heels covered in glitter? Or are they rhinestones?

If I’m a 6.5 that sometimes wears a 7, do you think I should go for the 6.5 or the 7??

Comment by Rin

Hi Rin — from what I’ve gathered from the online reviews on the Nordstrom site, these are mainly true to size, and you can even size down if you have a narrower foot. I would suggest sticking to your normal 6.5. If not, Nordstrom is really great about returns and I’m sure they will be happy to send you the 7 with minimal fuss :)

Comment by goldenmeans

Oh and about the rhinestone thing — they’re not true rhinestones, because they are very thin, they’re more like a sheet of rhinestone-like material. But they’re definitely not just glitter either…I don’t think these risk flaking off and leaving sparkles everywhere!

[...] $79.95 at Nordstrom.  The stock photo really doesn’t do this pair justice.  Check out the Goldenmeans blog to see just how gorgeous these look [...]
