Sorry for the lack of posting lately, I’m in the middle of a move and my time seems to be eating itself up this week. However, here’s a quick product recommendation. Rarely do I ever buy things at full price from Anthropologie: almost everything from that store is freakishly adorable, but clearly overpriced, and everything *will* eventually go on sale for a first cut of 50% off. But there are some pieces that are too cute to be deferred, pieces that actually retail at a reasonable price for their worth (past instances of this have included the Behind-The-Clouds-Dress and the Lost Locale Blouse — neither of which incidentally, quite uncharacteristically, ever went on sale….hrm…). I think the Necklace Tank falls under this umbrella.
.
.
It is a soft cotton halter tank, edged at the neck with a series of delicate rosettes with rhinestone centers. The straps are composed of grosgain ribbons, and unlike most tops, there are two pairs: a regular pair of halter straps you tie in the back, and a pair of straps that go straight back and connect to a racerback cutout in the back. It makes the tank look pretty cute, but also, to me functionality-wise, that is a god-send. I never ever wear halter tops because my chest feels so unsupported, and also I’m paranoid about the straps coming untied all the time. With the straight straps, there is none of that worry (especially since you can conceal racerback bra straps underneath them if need be, so you don’t have to go strapless or completely without if you don’t want to.) The bottom has a slight bubble hem, which I probably could have done without, but it doesn’t look too bad on actually, and in general I think it adds to the girly, romantic, ballet-inspired feel. It comes in three lovely color combinations: solid gray, solid yellow (a nice gentle buttercup shade), and white (which has pink rosettes and accent straps). For only $68, I think top is a steal, and I am tempted to get all three. Like most tops by Deletta, it runs true-to-size. The smaller sizes are sold out or backordered online, but like most pieces that sell out quickly from Anthro, I suspect they will be restocked, and also, I think stores should have plenty. I have seen and tried on a lot of rosette-adorned tees out in stores this season, but this is definitely my favorite…I’d advise you to run out and get it now if you can :)

Agreed, I am IN LOVE with this top. And you are dead on; I could have done without the bubble hem as well. This top will look super cute on you! I had to size up in this one to try on; I haven’t pulled the trigger yet but probably will soon.
Comment by roxy May 30, 2009 @ 12:03 pmOh, I read your great review of it a little while ago, and that’s what turned me onto seeking it out in store! Thank you :) It is great, although yeah the bubble hem was sort of a misstep…I was debating whether I should try (read: take to a tailor, I can’t sew) undoing it, which has the bonus of adding a little length too (I didn’t find it too short on me, but I just like shirts extra long).
Comment by goldenmeans May 30, 2009 @ 6:02 pmToo true, tis very pretty. Did you already purchase it? If so in what color? I can’t decide between the yellow and the brownish peach. They are all so pretty. Hopefully won’t sell out before I make up my mind.
Comment by jiejie May 30, 2009 @ 1:44 pmI haven’t bit the bullet yet! I saw all three in store and loved all the colors…couldn’t decide either ;) I really do want at least 2 colors in this! Really tempted to get the three =)
Comment by goldenmeans May 30, 2009 @ 6:05 pmRuh roh. I didn’t need to see this! I’ve been waffling over that top forever now. I really do think I need to get myself to the store to try it on, though- bubble hems can be either really good or really bad on me depending where they hit. I have a skirt to return to Anthro, so maybe I’ll head that way tomorrow or Monday and look for the top!
Comment by Chloe May 30, 2009 @ 6:43 pmI think it would be supercute on you Chloe :) Let me know what you think of it if you try it on!
Comment by goldenmeans May 31, 2009 @ 3:01 pmI’m glad to see I am not the only one who wants all three colors! I ordered all three to see which one would like better and ended up keeping all three! I highly recommend it!
Comment by Ny0311 May 31, 2009 @ 4:16 pmDefinitely like the gray one best. The flowers don’t “pop” as much, so it’s like people (and you too, of course) get a little extra detail to examine when they get closer to you :) As for the bubble, I agree with Chloe, it depends on where it hits — can be forgiving or a nightmare. Too bad I don’t see a black version, then the bubble wouldn’t be as obvious. You say this is in stores now? Why do I rarely see anything when I’m in the store — maybe some Anthros carry different stuff? Hope you like your new digs! TTYL
